Calm Mode: a baby tracker that knows when to shut up.
Some days the timer is helpful. Some days it's just telling you you're behind.
The anxiety most trackers cause.
You're enjoying tummy time with your newborn when your phone notifies you - a push notification from your baby tracker telling you Baby's sleep is coming soon. You open the app and see the silent grading. Diaper is behind schedule, feeding is now, bedtime is quickly approaching. You want to follow Baby's cues, but the app's judgement and notifications make it impossible some days.
Many parents who try baby tracking end up feeling defeated: "the app stoked my anxiety," "it made me obsessive," "the sweet-spot reminder caused me to chase a schedule instead of following the baby's cues." The tracker was supposed to relieve the anxiety, but it manufactured a new one.
What Calm Mode does.
Calm Mode is a one-tap toggle that softens Rhythm so that you can focus on Baby's cues.
- Precise timers become vague. "2h 34m ago" turns into "a few hours ago." "21m ago" becomes "less than an hour."
- Warning borders disappear. No more red rings around overdue tiles.
- Predictions hide. No "next wake window in 47m." No "bedtime estimated at 8:13 PM." No countdown.
- Pattern analysis and night-sleep statistics hide. The graphs are still there if you want them; just in the background.
Nothing stops being saved. Your data is still tracked at full precision behind the scenes - you can toggle Calm Mode off whenever you want and the numbers are right where you left them.
It's a tool, not a test.
Rhythm has thresholds and timers and predictions because that's what a tracker does - and sometimes those numbers are exactly what you need. Calm Mode is the acknowledgment that sometimes they're not. If a specific tile is the thing stressing you out, you can hide it permanently in customization. If it's the whole dashboard, Calm Mode covers it in one tap.
How to turn it on.
Calm Mode is in the sidebar, to the left of the big "+". Then, from any screen, just press the Calm Mode button. If you'd like it on the right side, you can switch that in Quick Actions. Per-device, so your partner's dashboard isn't affected.
