Roadmap
Rhythm is in active development. The core works well, my family has been using it for months, but I have a long list of things I want to make better. Here's that list:
Cold start performance
Opening the app after it's been closed for a while is slower than I want it to be. You should see your dashboard immediately, not a loading screen. I'm close on this one - just took Android from ~4s to ~1s, but I'd like to get it better.
UI tightening
Some setting pages are a bit rough, or not structured well. Buttons aren't always where you expect them. None of it is broken, but it doesn't feel finished either - I'm still working through the polish.
Status tiles and event creation
Status tiles are super powerful, but they're not intuitive - especially the path notation. This will take some work to get well, especially on a phone screen. Similar issue for event creation.
Tutorial
Right now you figure things out by poking around. My wife didn't know holding down a tile would open another context menu, or that the side bars were something you could modify. I'm trying to balance understanding with "not getting in the way", but it's a tough balance.
Customizable charting
Right now, charts are generated based on event modifiers automatically. I want to give you more control over this, with custom charting. My ideal is multi-event-type plotting - draw your own assessments. Did sleep time go up on days with more solid food? Does more water breaks lead to more pees? You should be able to ask those questions with custom charts.
Better icons
The icon set is incomplete. Some event types don't have a good match, and some of the existing icons could be better. I'm working through them, but this is the least fun part, so it goes slow.
Better rhythm and history pages
These pages show you what happened and when, but finding specific things is harder than it should be. Better filtering and grouping are needed, and they serve similar purposes.
Report generation
Pick a date range, choose what to include, get a document you can hand to a pediatrician or a caregiver. Ideally it would include things like a rough day plan (common patterns) for a caregiver, or a summary of how the baby is doing for a pediatrician - sleep, diapers, etc.
Analytics and Predictions - stretch goal
Right now, Rhythm focuses on the wake window, which is what most people want. I want to surface insights like "Your baby falls asleep faster on days where you had reading time", or "You rated 4 hour wake windows higher than 3 and a half hour ones". Still not sure what specifically to target here, since I don't want to get into machine learning.
